Future research initiatives in environmental technologies could be borne from a forthcoming EU-US partnering event in Amsterdam on 29 and 30 November. 'This is a unique opportunity to identify cooperative environmental technology projects and develop international partnerships,' say the event organisers.

So far some 84 companies have already added their profiles on the conference website (at the URL below) and 26 have registered (14 Dutch companies, nine American, one Polish and one Romanian), including representatives from Shell and Unilever.

The target group includes SMEs and large companies, suppliers, consultants, engineers and researchers operating in the field of environmental technology and looking for business and/or research opportunities in for example:

- definition of environmental technologies;
- cleaner production/pollution prevention;
- renewable energies;
- environmental management;
- waste management.

The event will be divided into

- plenary presentations on environmental developments in both Europe and the USA;

- parallel sessions based on matching interests expressed by each participant;

- partnering meetings and one-to-one discussions between potential partners focusing on their potential future collaboration;

- information market on business support subsidies, venture capital and loans.

The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs is the main European sponsor of the event, which is organised by Senter, an agency of the Ministry of economic affairs, and the Eureka initiative.
