The Organisation for economic cooperation and development (OECD) is organising a one day round table in Paris on 15 November to analyse the role of responsibility and ethics in the business world.

The 'Partners for progress - towards a new approach to corporate social responsibility' event aims to define the goals and benefits of ethical business. Representatives of private sector firms, as well as non-governmental organisations and the public sector will present, as well as Odile Quintin, the Director-General of the Commission's Employment and social affairs DG.

Some of the main topics discussed will be how economic development can lead to social cohesion through positive discrimination of major companies, what progress can be expected from public-private initiatives and a look at some relevant case studies.
