Growth programme previews next calls for proposals

A presentation of the next call for proposals for the competitive and sustainable growth programme, and a round table on the orientation of the next framework programme will take place on 15 December in Paris.
Presentations will be made by leading scientists and heads of units from the Research DG on each of the Key Actions in the Competitive and sustainable growth programme, which is part of the Commission's Fifth Framework Programme. Participating in the round table on the next framework programme will be representatives from the Research DG and members of external consultative committees.
The programme for Competitive and sustainable growth is entering into its final year, and the last two calls for proposals will be published on 15 December 2000 and 15 June 2001. The projects selected in 2001 will receive be supported with more than 710 million euro. Several important modifications will be made to the work programme, including the strengthening of some priorities, such as nanotechnology. New forms of co-operation, such as virtual institutes will also be encouraged.
