Following the unveiling of EUROTOURISM 2000 by Spain at the EUREKA Official meeting in Valencia, is the announcement that a business and brokerage event 'EUROTOURISM 2000: Advanced technologies for the tourism & leisure industry', is to take place in Santander, Spain on 23 to 25 November.

EUROTOURISM 2000 is a new EUREKA strategic project launched within the framework of the EUREKA programme for the development of tourist and leisure sectors by means of technological innovation. Plans were received positively at the official meeting on 17 to 19 October.

The event is aimed at both technology providers and organisations, which can help tourism and leisure companies to translate innovation requirements into real projects, as well as tourism and leisure organisations themselves.

Preliminary themes for discussion include sustainability, future products, establishment and services, information, services and e-commerce and new business opportunities.

A virtual forum will precede the event in November. The aims of the forum are to gain the most from electronic tools for information exchange and content creation, and to allow co-operation between those interested in innovation in leisure and tourism. The forum is organised into thematic discussion groups. Each discussion group is co-ordinated by specialists. These discussion groups will be translated into real workshops at the event on 23 to 25 November. To access the virtual forum, please consult the following site:
