A European partnering day focusing on 'innovative water management is to take place in Sankt Polten, Austria on 23 November 2000, and will follow an information day on 22 November.

Representatives from the European Commission, as well as representatives from the lower Austrian Federal Government, the Bureau for international research and technology co-operation and the federal ministry of education, science and culture will be in attendance.

The themes of the two days will correspond to the work programme of the EU's 'environment and sustainable development' programme, which is available on the CORDIS website. The partnering day will be a platform for entrepreneurs, researchers and others involved in the water sector, and aims to both stimulate and support future scientific technological co-operation.

Participants from both West and East Europe will discuss their project ideas bilaterally, and lay the foundations for future collaboration focusing on the forthcoming deadlines for proposal submission for the environment and sustainable development programme (deadlines: 15 February 2001 and 15 October 2001), as well as the CRAFT programme, dedicated to SMEs, which operates an open submission procedure.

The organising committee will collect incoming project ideas, and each participant will be provided with a catalogue in advance. A consultancy desk will be available for information concerning rules of participation, eligibility criteria and help on successful submissions to the Fifth Framework programme. For more information, please consult the following website:
