The European Commission, in conjunction with ECCREDI (European Council for construction research, development and innovation and its TRA (targeted research action) Network, is holding a Fifth Framework proposals workshop with the aim of encouraging the submission of proposals by the European construction industry. The event will take place on 22 and 23 January 2001 in Brussels.

Representatives from the European Commission's Research DG will give presentations on the results and lessons to be learned from previous calls, and will explain the new priorities and opportunities for the construction sector in forthcoming calls for GROWTH and EESD. The workshop will focus particularly on opportunities in the GROWTH key action 1 'Innovative products, processes and organisation' programme and its generic action on materials. The final periodic call for these actions will be published on 15 December 2000. A second forthcoming call for proposals of interest to the construction industry is that of the key action 4 'City of tomorrow and cultural heritage' section of the EESD programme, also to be published on 15 December.

The event will provide a stage for establishing contacts and discussing proposals with other key players in the field of construction research. The event will also seek to explain criteria for submitting proposals under the SME scheme CRAFT, and to stimulate SME interest in the Fifth Framework programme. For more information, please consult the following web address:
