A conference on cooperation between academia and industry, with a focus on the IT sector is to take place in Karlskrona, Sweden on 17 and 18 April 2001.

The aim of the conference is to strengthen Europe's competitiveness by stimulating the development of greater cooperation between institutions of higher education and the business sector. The conference is part of EU efforts to bring attention to cooperative issues, particularly in the field of research within the IT sector. Successful examples of cooperative ventures will be emphasised, and the reasons for their success discussed.

Around 200 people from academic, business, industrial, research, research financing and NGO background have been invited to the conference, which will consist of collective sessions and workshops.For more information, please contact the Swedish Ministry of Education and Science:
