Greek island hosts conference on imaging technologies in biomedical sciences
The conference aims to bring scientists working in applied physics research or with an interest in radiation detector systems together with engineers and information scientists from academia and industry and with end-users working in the medical environment or in applied biology.
The Milos ITBS will cover a wide field of applications from related detectors and new detector materials to electronics and image processing algorithms. Emphasis will be given to technology transfer from applied physics to industry in the areas of medical imaging and the in-vivo or in-vitro biological imaging.
The first conference in the ITBS series, 'Detectors for PET, SPECT, radiology and for in vitro imaging' will focus on detectors used in PET, SPECT, radiology, portal probes and in imaging used for in vitro studies.
The University of Athens and the Athens Institute of accelerating systems and applications, are jointly organising the event.
The following topics will also be covered:
- Novel imaging systems;
- SPECT: Conventional gamma detectors and systems;
- SPECT: High resolution detectors for small animal and dedicated organ;
- PET: Conventional PET scanners;
- PET: Multihead gamma camera systems;
- PET: High resolution detectors for small animal and dedicated organ PET;
- Radiology;
- Multimodality systems: PET/SPECT, CT/SPECT, CT/PET;
- Portal probes;
- High resolution detectors for in vitro imaging.
