13 September 2001 - 13 September 2001

The second international conference on new horizons in industry and education will be held on the Greek island of Milos from 13 to 14 September 2001.

The event is organised by the department of applied informatics and multimedia of the Technological educational institute of Crete. It follows an earlier conference held on Santorini island in 1999, which was organised in the framework of an EC Socrates/Erasmus Pilot project 'the European manager'.

This year's conference aims to identify changes brought about by new technologies and the globalisation of business and their implications for industrialists. Special attention will be drawn to the necessary innovative approaches and experiences developed in education to adapt teaching to these new challenges.

The following topics will be covered: creating new profiles in industry; interface between engineers and managers; new educational methods; innovation and entrepreneurship; government policies: information systems for education and industry; government: industry and education; financing seed capital; career counseling and strategy.
