A two day international conference organised by the European Commission's Research DG in collaboration with the Nancy 2 University, will explore issues surrounding employee resources and social protection, and will take place in Brussels on 17 and 18 January.

The conference has been arranged to disseminate the results of research into the social aspects of employment, carried out via the TSER thematic network, 'The social construction of employment' (SCE), under the EU's Fourth RTD Framework programme.

The event will explore current debates and policies in Member States on the relationship between wages, taxation, insurance and savings and how they impact on employee resources and social protection.

Four sessions are arranged: 'pension reform: how to finance post-employment time', 'different resources for different kinds of employment', 'industrial relations: is it still possible to talk of wage conflict?' and 'wage earners, profit-sharers and benefit recipients: the social construction of rights'.
