The faculty of sciences at the University of Lisbon, Portugal, is hosting a seminar on 'Trans-boundary management of natural resources' on 17 March 2001. The seminar aims to explore the emerging concept of 'new environmental borders', concerning the governance of shared natural resources.

The seminar programme will focus on some of the main problems of the Iberian Peninsula, related to::

- Shared management of species with transboundary populations, including the Lynx (Lynx pardinus), the Great Bustard (Otis tarda) and diadromous fish (such as Petromyzon marinus, Alosa spp., Anguilla anguilla, and Acipenser spp.);

- Geological resources - some sedimentological aspects in international rivers;

- Institutional and associative participation in cooperation between Portugal and Spain.
