Grid workshop to show the way forward
It will include a focus on the opportunities for information society technologies research and development (IST R&D) presented by the collaboration, coordination and facilities opened up by the Grid. It will also provide information on the latest developments in the Grid in terms of the collaborative activities and the availability of research infrastructures, how strategic objectives in Europe related to the Grid can be strengthened and contribution to the planning of further actions at the European level, which may include looking at the Grid in relation to the European Union's Sixth framework programme.
The workshop will be divided up into three separate tracks so that those attending can focus on specific areas of interest.
Track one
An analysis of the expectations and the reality of the Grid today
Track two
A look at the experiences in the Grid's development and an identification of areas of new application, such as science and business.
Track three
A view of what the Grid could mean for Europe and how it can benefit from and contribute to its development.
The event will be taking place shortly after the first global Grid form (starting on 4 March) and will use the findings of that event as an additional source of discussion.
