Open information interchange (OII) IMPACT workshop
Intended as a follow-up to a successful OII workshop held in June 1991, the first half-day of the event will provide a progress report on IMPACT's ongoing OII activities. These include an image standards study, a reference model study, a pilot information service, and the multimedia/hypermedia workshop. The second half of the day will cover intellectual property rights, management services, what data will be required and how data will be connected to documents.
The second day will be devoted to the standardization of DTD (Document Type Descriptions) for use in SGML (Standard Generalized Markup Language) environments to aid the interchange of electronic SGML/ODA (Office Document Architecture) interworking, the current state of international DTD standards for publishing, standards for specific DTD fragments such as tables and mathematical notation, the possibility of extending the Text Encoding initiative to business information, and the use off SGML coding in conjunction with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).
In addition, a forum for publishers and document designers will provide a valuable opportunity to discuss the issues of attaching intellectual property management information to business information and design issues in the use of SGML.
Attendance at the workshop is free. For registration details and further information, please contact:
