Berlin will host an international conference on the creation of an international agency for renewable energies (IRENA) from 8 to 10 June 2001.

The conference aims to highlight the present governmental and non-governmental initiatives for the transfer of renewable energy technologies, showing the most important fields for action and the most successful experiences, and will explain the need for an international agency for renewable energies (IRENA).

The event is divided into the following sessions:

- the general needs and present activities for a global transfer of renewable energy technologies;

- experience of governmental and non-governmental organisations in capacity building for renewable energies;

- experiences of agencies and centres of excellence on capacity building renewable energies;

- education and training for renewable energies;

- demand side experiences from a commercial view;

- establishing financing services and structures for renewable energies.

The event is organised by the European association for renewable energies, Eurosolar.
