Herzelia to host the next JSTAC meeting

The next EU-Israel joint science and technology association committee (JSTAC) meeting is scheduled for 7 May 2001 in Herzelia, Israel. It will be followed on 8 May by a seminar, which will assess cooperation between the EU and Israel within the Fifth Framework programme (FP5) and discuss the next Framework programme, which will run from 2002-2006.
The aim of the seminar is to try and portray the state of play of the Israeli participation in FP5 and to discuss its long-term effects on the EU and Israel, as well as the relations between the parties. In addition, the participants will focus on issues which are unique to Israeli entities, and which have an effect on their participation in the Framework programme.
The participants in this discussion include representatives from the Research and the Information society Directorate-Generals as well as Israeli industrialists and researchers and representatives of the major economic and technological associations. Some 20 leading European industrialists and researchers are also expected to attend the event, where, inter-alia, selected projects from the thematic programs, which include Israeli partners, will be presented and discussed.
