The third World symposium of information technologies will be held in Paris from 2 to 4 May 2001, on the subject: 'the strategic stakes of the net economy'.

The event is supported by UNESCO and the European Commission and aims:

- to create a crossroads of reflection, initiatives and actions on information technologies;
- to contribute to the consideration of the international cultural variety, which cannot adapt to a unique model;
- to offer a forum for meetings, exchange of experiences, and upgrading knowledge concerning the fast progress of technologies;
- to allow small and medium sized companies to find business partners;
- to assist developing countries' integration into the World market through information technologies;
- to bring together all those who in their concerns, research and action, are trying to shape the process of globalisation so that it puts people at the centre of the economy, and science and technology.
