The Association of European science and technology transfer professionals (ASTP) hosts its second annual conference on 31 May and 1 June 2001 in Munich, Germany, dubbed 'Best practices of science-based technology transfer is 'facing the facts''.

Plenary and parallel sessions led by experienced speakers will cover a wide range of subjects including a recent ASTP survey on facts and figures of European technology transfer. The European Commission will be represented by Mr Schmiemann, a principal administrator in the Enterprise Directorate-General's innovation policy unit.

Key themes of the event are:

- Technology transfer in different European countries as well as in the USA;
- Surveying technology transfer in Europe and the USA;
- Perspectives of university seed- & venture capital funds;
- Supra university techtransfer;
- Valuation of technology: ICT and bio-technology;
- University patent law: comparisons and differences within Europe;
- Strategic alliances with universities;
- Internal organisation of university technology transfer;
- Social program, including a visit to the so called 'Bavaria Valley';

The event hopes to attract around 150 people related to technology transfer within Europe and Israel.
