The Swedish Ministry of Education and Science is hosting a conference on cooperation between academia and industry, focusing on the IT sector, in Karlskrona on 17 and 18 April.

The aim of the conference, which will be attended by Swedish Minister for Education and current chair of the EU's Research Council Thomas Östros, is to stimulate discussion on greater and firmer links between institutions of higher education and the business sector, as a way of strengthening Europe's competitiveness.

Principal scientific officer from the European Commission's Research DG, Dimitri Corpakis, will give a presentation on cooperation within the framework programmes.

During the conference, a number of different models for collaboration between academia and the business sector will be discussed. The conference is targeted at representatives from academia, the business world, industrial research institutes, research foundations and research-financed agencies.For further information, please consult the following web address:
