The UK National Contact Point for the Growth programme (part of the EU's Fifth Framework programme) is holding two events, on 21 June in Newcastle and 22 June in Coventry, to present the priorities for the final call for collaborative research proposals on land transport and marine technologies.

The event will include a presentation from the Head of Unit at the European Commission responsible for land transport and marine technologies.

The call is due to be issued on 1 June, with a deadline for receipt of proposals on 17 September 2001.

The action covers automotive, rail and marine vehicle technologies to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions, improve performance and improve competitiveness in production. The action also covers technologies for exploration and monitoring of industrial installations in difficult areas of the seabed, for example deep sea submersibles.

Advice on evaluation criteria and guidance on participation, advice from current participants and information on special measures for SMEs will also be available.For further information, please consult the following web address:
