The new Advisory Council for Aeronautics Research in Europe will meet for the first time in Le Bourget at the Paris Air Show on 19 June and will meet with Research Commissioner Philippe Busquin.

The Advisory Council was created following such a recommendation in the 'European Aeronautics: A Vision for 2020' report, which Commissioner Busquin unveiled in January at the Aeronautics Days event in Hamburg. The report outlined Europe's vision to become a global leader in the field of aeronautics, whilst serving society's needs. The aim of the Council is to develop and implement a strategic approach to European aeronautics research.
