The European Commission is financing an advanced study course on water resources management in arid and semi arid regions using advanced Earth observation and geographical information systems techniques, to take place in Ciudad Real, Spain on 2 to 13 July. The course is being financed under the Fifth framework programmes' environment and sustainable development programme.

The aim of the course is the effective transfer of knowledge and the introduction of proven applications of remote sensing in Water Resources management, including training in using Earth Observation data to potential users. The course will also seek to address the practical issues of implementing these techniques to solve real problems.

The course is aimed mainly at young scientists, already involved in research in this area.For further information on the course and an application form, please consult the following web address:
