Examples of what European cities are doing to promote biotechnology will be presented at 'BioCities 2001', to be held in Hamburg, Germany on 11 October.

Representatives from eight biocities in six Member States will present overviews of national policies as well as specific initiatives.

The conference objectives are to introduce examples of approaches and practices where the further development of biotechnology has been successfully pursued in selected European cities; to discuss mechanisms to support and further the cause of biotechnology in such cities, using their potential for scientific development and economic growth and to set up working links and partnerships between biocities, with a view to providing a forum for information exchange and networking. For further information, please consult the following web address: http://www.biocities2001.de(opens in new window)
