Liikanen to open construction conference

Erkki Liikanen, the EU's Enterprise and Information society Commissioner, will give the inaugural address at a conference on construction products for the single market: expectations and reality is to be held at the Palais des Congrès in Brussels on December 4 and 5 this year.

The event will look at issues such as standards, some of which were drawn up on the basis of research carried out under the EU fourth Framework programme..

The event is being organised by the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) in association with the European Commission Enterprise Directorate-General and the secretariat of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).

The conference will offer a forum for debate on the major issues surrounding the establishment of the single European market in construction products. It aims to address the implications of the EU directive for construction products and will include talks by key representatives of the Enterprise Directorate-General
