An international conference on 'Processes of citizen participation in sustainability' will take place in Zaragoza, Spain, between 22 and 24 October 2001.

The event, organised by the city council of Zaragoza with the support of the European Commission's LIFE project, aims to provide a forum for the exchange of transnational experience and good practice in sustainable development and the involvement of citizens in the decision-making process.

The conference hopes to build on the work carried out by Zaragoza city council with the support of a European Commission LIFE project grant awarded in 1998. The funding was used to increase citizen participation in the design, planning and protection of areas of ecological and cultural value.For further information, please contact:
