An international conference on car recycling in Europe will take place in Berlin, Germany on 13 and 14 November.

The conference will include sessions on development trends of components and materials, methods for dismantling and pre-treatment, recovery technologies after the shredder process, minimum technical requirements for the treatment of end of life vehicles (ELV), the elimination of undesirable substances, the use of aluminium as well as heavy metals in the recycling process.

The conference will be held at a time when the deadline for Member States to introduce laws, regulations and administrative provisions for ELVs, as stated in a directive of November 2000, is approaching. The directive must be implemented by 21 April 2002.For further information, please consult the following web address:
