Intelligent manufacturing systems in construction - seminar and workshop
The IMS initiative is an industry-led, international research and development (R&D) programme established to develop the next generation of manufacturing and processing technologies.
The aims of the seminar and workshop are to understand how the IMS initiative works, how it has benefited construction businesses already and how it could apply to other organisations. The event will also be a platform for disseminating experience of the IMS programme and successful construction projects and exploring the basis for future cooperation by crystalising two or three possible projects.
Companies and research institutions from Australia, Canada, the European Union, Norway, Japan, Korea, Switzerland, and the United States of America participate in the programme, allowing European researchers access to researchers in all of these regions.
The next generation of advanced manufacturing and processing technologies will be expensive to produce, and no one entity has all the expertise needed. This programme enables costs, risks and expertise to be shared, thus improving production operations, enhancing international competitiveness, and leading to technology breakthroughs via market-driven R&D.
IMS provides a support structure for conducting R&D projects and has specific arrangements for the protection of intellectual property rights (IPR). Results of projects are shared through a process of controlled information diffusion that protects and equitably allocates any intellectual property, both background and foreground. For further information, please consult the following web address:
