European business to gather in Brussels in June

The European business summit, an annual event designed to address the issues affecting the European business community, will take place in Brussels on 6 to 8 June 2002.

The event will be attended by several European Commissioners, as well as representatives of business and civil society. One of the themes that the event plans to address is 'Entrepreneurship and sustainable development in an enlarged Europe.' As part of this, a special emphasis will be laid on ensuring sufficient contributions from and representation of the candidate countries. As well as being offered an integral part in panel discussions, candidate country representatives will be invited to make special presentations on the business opportunities in their countries.

Networking will be encouraged at the event, with a dedicated 'exhibition and networking village' available for exchange of views and details.

Organised by the European Union of Employers, UNICE and the Federation of Belgian companies (FEB-VBO), the European business summit hopes to build on the success of last year, when European Commission President Romano Prodi, Belgian's Prince Phillip and representatives from companies such as Microsoft and Nokia attended.For further information, please contact:
