The environmental, research and commercial implications of European transport and the policies the European Union adopts in this area will be discussed at the forthcoming 'European transport challenges' debate taking place in Brussels on 31 January.

Attended by the EU Commissioner for Transport and Energy, Loyola de Palacio, the event will look closely at the contents of the recent European Commission White paper 'European transport for 2010: time to decide'. Other participants will include representatives from the Spanish government (which occupies the rotating European presidency), representatives from road, air and sea associations and Members of the European Parliament.
