An event organised by the European Parliament and European Schoolnet, 'Innovation and excellence in school: moving Europe ahead!' will discuss ways to improve the use of ICT (information and communication technologies) in schools in Brussels on 18 February 2002.

The day-long debate will look at ways of increasing Europe's educational innovation and excellence by improving the use of ICT in schools. Education experts and European Commission and political representatives will attend the event, which will include a presentation by the new President of the European Parliament, Patrick Cox.

The morning session of the event will examine the issue of 'Making change happen in schools,' and the afternoon session will address the topic of 'Identifying a strategy for action.'
