Students to try their hand at space design at ESA workshop
The event, a joint initiative between ESA and the University of Stuttgart, Germany, will take place at ESA's technical centre, ESTEC, in the Netherlands. The event is open to students from all ESA Member States, and aims to attract those studying aerospace engineering, architecture and business studies.
Some 30 students will be selected to take part in the workshop, which will give them the opportunity to learn and practice systems engineering in the conceptual design of a space station. The students will also be able to meet ESA experts and fellow space enthusiasts.
Those selected for the workshop will be able to use advanced design techniques and custom-built tools at ESA's Concurrent design facility (CDF) to carry out their task. A public presentation of the best design will be made on the last day of the workshop on 22 February.
The CDF is a state-of-the-art facility equipped with a network of computers, multi-media devices and software tools allowing a multi-disciplinary team of experts to work together on space mission design.For further information, please consult the following web address:
