The Commission-funded Euroshoe project is to hold a conference on 'RTD (research and technological development) in the European footwear sector' in Milan, Italy, on 20 March 2002.

The aim of the event is to promote discussion and foster cooperation towards the creation of a European research area in the footwear sector. It will bring together representatives from the European Commission, national agencies and Ministries, local government agencies, industrial associations and research centres.

The Euroshoe (Extended user oriented shoe enterprise) project, funded under the Growth programme of the Fifth Framework programme for research (FP5), aims to design, develop and implement methods and technology for the mass production of individually-customised shoes. It has 33 participants and a total budget of 17 million euro, of which 8.5 million is provided by the European Community.For further information, please contact:
