Examples of best practice in encouraging SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) to do business online will be presented at a conference on 'Benchmarking national and regional policies in support of e-business for SMEs' in León, Spain, on 20 June.

The event, organised by the European Commission and the Spanish Presidency of the EU, will highlight policy recommendations and results from an EU initiative, set out in the Commission communication on 'Helping SMEs to go digital,' to benchmark national and regional measures to encourage SMEs to get online.

It aims to bring together high-level policy makers, SME associations, business support networks and academics to:

- discuss the state of play with respect to the take-up of ICT and e-business by SMEs in the Member States;

- present the results of the initiative 'Benchmarking national and regional policies in support of e-business for SMEs' - notably to share experience of best practice in policy-making and discuss what can be learnt from examples of successful policies and initiatives;

- launch a debate on indicators and targets for enterprise policy in support of e-business for SMEs, to be further followed-up as part of the Enterprise Policy scoreboards.For further information and to register, please consult the following web address:
