The European Commission is holding a conference on the use of technology in the EU clothing business on 15 October in Brussels.

'The EU apparel business goes high-tech,' organised in collaboration with Euratex, aims to highlight the use of information technology in the European clothing business and demonstrate ways in which the sector can increase its competitive advantage by focusing on activities with high added value. It will also showcase the results of a number of Commission-funded research projects.

The conference will bring together representatives of the Commission, Member States and candidate countries alongside members of the European Parliament's forum for textiles, clothing and leather, trade associations, textile research institutes, consumer representatives and specialised press.

Enterprise and Information Society Commissioner Erkki Liikanen will open the event.

Innovative technologies presented at the event include 3D body scanning and automatic measurement, virtual try-ons, wearable technology and e-commerce.The conference programme is available at the following web address:
