Conference on Europe's regions shaping their future - the role of Foresight
Regional Foresight activities will support the European research area (ERA) by reinforcing and widening European unity through co-ordinated diversity and strengthening regional development in all Member States. This conference focuses on regions both in Member States and candidate countries, with additional expert input from outside Europe.
The results of the work of the high level expert group on mobilising the regional Foresight potential for an enlarged EU will constitute important input to the conference. The group was established by the European Commission in 2001 to contribute to the debate on a new European governance, the involvement of candidate countries in the European integration process and the achievement of the Lisbon goals.
The first day of the conference will be dedicated to inserting regional Foresight in a broader context such as governance, enlargement, the Lisbon strategy and the ERA.
The second day will actively engage promoters and sponsors of regional Foresight with practitioners and stakeholders to develop ideas for new activities to harness the potential of Foresight to contribute to the Lisbon goals, with the potential of establishing European consortia of regional Foresight initiatives.
Technical themes that will be included and covered at the event include globalisation and regional governance, Technology Foresight (TF) and Technology Assessment (TA) and Foresight in a regional perspective. For further information, please consult the following web address:
