Information days at VALUE Relay Centre, Rome
- UK research and Anglo-Italian cooperation (Rome, 18-19 November 1993). Among the speakers at this event will be the Vice-President of ENEA, the President of APRE, and the Director of the British Council, Italy. Three case studies will demonstrate aspects of cooperative research involving: The National Physical Laboratory and Metalloceramica Vanzetti PA (a BRITE/EURAM project); Napier University and the Industrial Electrical Engineering Department of Turin Polytechnic; the Pharmaceutical Development Section of Farmitalia Carlo Erba and the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Brescia.
- Community research and small and medium-sized enterprises, the CRAFT programme and the ARCADE data communications system (Rome, 24 November 1993). Topics are to include presentations on: Community research and development policy for SMEs; the capacity and potential of Italian SMEs in the field of scientific research and technological innovation; participation of BRITE/EURAM and CRAFT in ARCADE. In addition, Mr. Bellardinelli, Head of Unit, DG XIII/D-2, of the Commission of the European Communities, will speak on the dissemination and valorization of RTD results in the context of the VALUE programme. A debate will follow the presentations.
An afternoon session will examine the topic "RTD as a tool to increase the competitivity of SMEs". Participants will also have the opportunity to gain practical experience of the ARCADE system.
- Valorization and diffusion of the results of Community RTD -Franco-Italian cooperation (Bologna, 14-15 December 1993). The event will begin on the afternoon of 14 December with an opportunity for informal meeting and discussion): Areas covered on 15 December will comprise: The future of Community research; the role of innovation in the competitivity of the European food industry; the VALUE programme for the valorization and dissemination of RTD results; RTD in the agro-industrial sector and the relationship between universities and industry in Italy (FAIR/FLOW programme); Participation of the Italian food industry in Community RTD programmes; Agro-industrial research, the state-of-the-art, financial projects, privileged areas. The presentations will be followed by an open debate.
An afternoon session chaired by Finn Rexen of DG XII will centre on results of the ECLAIR (agro-industrial RTD) and FLAIR (food science and technology) programmes, followed by debate.
