IST 2002 event: Copenhagen
The opening session will comprise welcoming addresses from Danish Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, Helge Sander, Erkki Liikanen, the EU Commissioner for Enterprise and the Information Society, and Commissioner for Research, Philippe Busquin. This will be followed by a presentation of IST (information society technologies) priorities under the Sixth Framework Programme.
Throughout the three days, the event will hold regular workshops, networking sessions, and exhibitions. The workshops are something of a first in that their themes have been chosen on the basis of proposals from over 350 participants. The networking sessions have also been decided upon and arranged online, and the list of confirmed sessions now stands at over 40.
There will be an award ceremony on the evening of 4 November at which Erkki Liikanen will announce the Grand Prize winners of 2002, drawn from the 20 winners of this year's IST Prize.
Organisers are expecting that the IST 2002 Event will attract participants in research and technology from across Europe, representing a wide range of industries and organisations, and will give them the chance to see new products, share experiences and know-how and hear from the leaders of European research and technology. For further information, please consult the following web address:
