The Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) will be launched at a one-day conference in Reykjavik, Iceland, on 22 November.

The event aims to explain the new structures of FP6 to the Icelandic research community. There will be presentations from Commission representatives on the thematic priority areas and horizontal activities, workshops will be held on areas of most relevance to Icelandic research, and practical information on application procedures will be given.

The conference is intended for researchers from academia and industry, and will act as the launch for a series of smaller and more specific events in Iceland in the following weeks. An exhibition will also run from 22 to 24 November in Reykjavik to inform members of the public of the projects that have been undertaken with EU cooperation.

A similar event was held at the launch of the Fifth Framework Programme, attracting thousands of participants, and it is hoped this year's event will prove equally popular.For further information, please contact:
