On 19 November, the German state of Nordrhein-Westphalia will present an overview of its activities in the area of life sciences in the hope of fostering cooperation with European and international partners under the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6).

The event will consist of a series of platform events highlighting the region's various life science research priorities. The organisers hope to promote a better understanding between the players in the sector and encourage the networking of excellence, a key element of FP6.

Specific presentations will include an overview of EU research policies for the promotion of life science research given by Octavi Quintana Trias, Director for Health at the Commission's Research DG, and a promotion of life science research in Nordrhein-Westphalia by Harmut Krebs, Deputy Minister for schools, science and research for the region.For further information, please contact:
