The European Commission is to host a conference on industrial policy in an enlarged Europe in Brussels on 21 January 2003.

The event aims to launch a broad public debate on the industrial policy challenges facing an enlarged Europe, in light of the recent communication published on this subject by the Commission.

Commission President Romano Prodi will open the event, and two panel discussions will look at 'which horizontal policies are right for Europe', and 'how to address sectoral specificities'.

The panel members will include Erkki Liikanen, Commissioner for Enterprise and the Information Society, as well as the UK Minister for Trade and Industry Patricia Hewitt, Wolfgang Clement, the German Minister for Economics and Labour, and leading industrialists from across Europe.For further information and registration, please consult the following web address:
