The European research centre for employment and human resources is hosting the fourth annual conference on human resources development (HRD) research and practices across Europe on 23 and 24 May in Toulouse, France.

This year's event, jointly sponsored by the university forum for HRD and the academy of HRD, will have a special focus on lifelong learning for a knowledge based society.

The two day conference is aimed at academics, researchers and practitioners interested in all aspects of learning and development. Masters and doctoral students of HRD are particularly encouraged to attend and are eligible for a reduced registration fee.

While the conference seeks to bring together research, practice and policy in any area of HRD, contributions dealing with the emerging European agenda are especially welcomed. The following is a non-exhaustive list of intended topics:

- lifelong learning in the European agenda;
- knowledge based society: organisational development, organisational learning and knowledge management;
- competence development: contemporary debates;
- boundaries of HRD: interface with HRM, changing roles and special partnership;
- vocational education and training: pedagogic and technological innovation;
- e-learning and HRD: e-llusion or revolution?

Participants are invited to contribute written material to the conference in one of two forms: either by the refereed track, complete scholarly papers of up to 5,000 words, or by the working paper track, abstracts of up to 1,500 words. Proposals will be assessed by a panel of international specialists prior to acceptance and publication within the conference proceedings.For further information, please contact:
