Conference on water management in EU Mediterranean region, Lefkosia
The event seeks to highlight the establishment of a network aimed at promoting the effective and sustainable management of scarce water resources in Mediterranean EU Member States, an initiative supported by the European Commission.
During the event, options for the best use of limited water resources in various countries will be discussed, and a committee will be formed in order to develop an integrated policy management system to promote efficient and effective water management practices.
The system will be based on a wide range of water management options, including:
- source and cost of the water (conventional and non-conventional water resources);
- optimisation of water allocation and investment in water efficient technologies and practices at the user level;
- effective water use;
- pricing of water.
The first two days of the programme will include presentations and discussions on the water management policies of various countries, while the third day will include a visit to a government water works facility.
The event is open to scientists from EU Mediterranean States, other EU countries, and pre-accession states. The ARI has funding to cover the expenses of one participant per country but participants willing to cover their own expenses are also welcome.For further information, please consult the following web address:
