EURIE '93: The European ISDN event
EURIE '93, is organized and co-hosted by Belgacom and the Commission of the European Communities. The central event will take place at the Bureau and Design Centre (Heysel Exhibition Area), Brussels. On 14 December the opening ceremony and keynote speeches, attended by the press and by invitation only, will be broadcast live to all European countries by ISDN videophone.
On 15-16 December the exhibition will be open to the public (from 10.00 to 18.00 each day) who are invited to participate free of charge in this unique experience, which will be one of the biggest ISDN-awareness and education exercises ever undertaken.
The Commission's exhibition area will feature the activities of the European ISDN User Forum (EIUF) and the DG XIII/B IBC Lab, demonstrating trans-European ISDN applications including:
- PC-based video telephony and remote cooperative working;
- File transfer;
- G3 fax transmission via ISDN
- 7kHz telephony;
- ISDN for workgroups (an extension of MS Windows for workgroups, with ISDN connection of a single computer to a workgroup, LAN-to-LAN linking of whole workgroups via ISDN, accessing the ISDN telematic services fax groups 3 and 4 and Eurofile transfer via MS Mail).
In addition to the Commission display, a further 24 stands will contribute to the Brussels event. A wide range of exhibitors will demonstrate the most advanced trans-European ISDN applications, particularly featuring European solutions for end-users. As well as the local presentations, there will be a full programme of international networking demonstrations.
All the EURIE sponsors are either public/private organizations or ISDN equipment manufacturers and service providers. To date, some 22 operators and more than 60 European-based suppliers have confirmed their participation. EURIE '93 will provide a unique opportunity for all interested parties to see at first hand the state-of-the-art in European-ISDN equipment.
