The European Commission is organising a conference to examine the implications of enlargement and the abolition of quantitative import restrictions for the European textile and clothing sector in Brussels on 20 March.

The European Commission is organising a conference to examine the implications of enlargement and the abolition of quantitative import restrictions for the European textile and clothing sector in Brussels on 20 March.

The event will also look at the subsequent prospects for employment in the sector, and other human resource challenges. The Commissioner for Enterprise and the Information Society, Erkki Liikanen, will open the event.

Other speakers and participants at the conference will include representatives of the Commission and Members of the European Parliament, as well as industry spokespeople and leaders from across the EU and candidate countries.

Specific topics for discussion will include: the impact of EU enlargement, the EU textile and clothing sector after 2005, and employment perspectives and human resources challenges.For further information, please consult the following web address:
