A conference on the sustainable development of the Mediterranean and Black Sea regions is taking place from 29 May to 1 June in Thessaloniki, Greece.

The event will present ten relevant research projects and identify common environmental problems in the two regions for which research is still needed.

There will also be an overview and analysis of sustainable development activities under the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6), particularly in the field of marine science and technology.

It is hoped that the conference will encourage interaction and the exchange of ideas and know-how between researchers, end users and policy makers within the marine environmental sectors in the eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea region.

Additionally, thematic networks between Member States, associated states and third countries are also expected to evolve as a result of
the event.

The conference is being organised by the national centre for marine research (NCMR) in Greece, the institute for marine biology of Crete (IMBC) and the university of Crete.For further information, please visit:
