The representation of Nordrhein-Westphalia (NRW) to the European Union is to host a platform event on new water technologies developed in the region, with the example of membrane technology, in Brussels on 2 April.

The State government of NRW recently adopted an action plan aimed at promoting the role of its research institutes and small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the European Research Area.

The series of platform events is aimed at highlighting different research priorities in NRW and facilitating contacts with European partners.

The water technologies event will look at topics such as water and soil related activities within the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6), water management in the Rhine area, the development of membrane technology, and overall progress in the field of water technologies.

Attending the event will be Hannelore Kraft, NRW's Minister for Science and Research, and Dr Christian Patermann, Director of the Environment Directorate at the Commission's Research DG.

All presentations at the event will be in English. For further information, please:
