The 2003 Eurobarometer report on public perceptions of science and technology in the EU's candidate countries will be presented by Research Commissioner Philippe Busquin in Brussels on 3 April.

This is the first time that attitudes in the candidate countries have been assessed on such a large scale by the European Commission.

The report will include information on scientific literacy, scientists' responsibilities, declining scientific vocations, Europe's performance in comparison to that of the rest of the world, and women in science.Media representatives wishing to attend the event should contact:
