POSEIDON is an EU collaborative project funded under the energy, environment and sustainable development section of the Fifth Framework Programme, which assesses technologies for the removal of pharmaceutical and personal care products in wastewater and drinking water facilities.

A symposium will be held on 4 and 5 November in Braunschweig, Germany, to present the results of the project, enabling end users and stakeholders to gain up to date knowledge of water treatment technologies.

The overall goal of POSEIDON is to improve the efficiency and safety of the water supply, to minimise environmental impacts, and to prevent potential human health hazards. Specific topics covered will include:
- Risk assessment and environmental fate for selected substances;
- Wastewater technology and source control;
- Indirect discharge of treated wastewater into unsaturated soil.For further information, please consult the following web address:
