The 2nd Annual Congress of the Netherlands Study Centre on "National and European Subventions for the Support of RTD Activities" takes place on 17 February 1994 in Rotterdam. The Congress has the support of the European Commission, DG XIII/D-2.

Both Dutch and English authorities attach great importance to innovation as a means for European industry to be competitive with Japanese and American counterparts. In order to promote innovation, national and European authorities are supporting RTD activities by funding subsidy schemes.

This year's Congress aims to give a clear and topical overview for 1994 of the most important RTD support programmes at national and European levels. Topics include: New fiscal facilities for RTD; subsidy regulations; training and financial support (the European Social Funds); investment in environment; EU support for RTD (presented by Mr. Rapparini, of DG XIII/D-2 of the European Commission); EU technology encouragement; the fields of application and the budget for EU support.

Two-day courses on European technology stimulation and incentives are also organized for 20 and 27 January and 16 and 23 September 1994. These discuss the RTD Framework Programmes, other EU programmes, and how to apply for funding. Practical examples are given.
