The European Commission's annual information society and technologies (IST) event will take place from 2 to 4 October in Milan, Italy.
'IST 2003' will bring together high level decision makers from the public sector, private industry and the world of research, to discuss European policies, strategies and research activities in all areas of the information society.
More specifically, strategic initiatives will be presented and debated, ranging from IST research policies and the establishment of a European Research Area (ERA) in the sector, to the roll-out of broadband and mobile services and telecom deregulation.
Several conference workshops will take place, focusing on identifying tomorrow's major technological trends; organising the European research required to turn vision into reality; and the investment issues involved in IST implementation.
