The Spanish National Cancer Centre (CNIO) will host an international symposium on the molecular taxonomy of cancer from 3 to 6 February 2004 in Madrid, Spain.

Cancer research is in the throes of the most exciting and important revolution since the discovery of oncogenes two decades ago. Fuelled by spectacular advances in genomics and technology, scientists are amassing unprecedented volumes of data on the molecular alterations in tumourigenesis. These clues into the molecular origins of cancer are, in turn, providing crucial new leads for the diagnosis and treatment of this devastating disease.

The 2004 CNIO symposium will provide a definitive forum for discussion and debate of seminal advances and outstanding problems in cancer pathogenesis, diagnostics and therapeutics. The conference features an outstanding cast of international speakers from academia and industry, spanning basic cancer biology to clinical oncology.
